..................!

I finished another book today. It was The Luxe by Anna Godbersen. It's technically classified as a young-adult book, but I really enjoyed it. So much that I went onto Half.com and ordered it and the sequel. There are three books out right now, with the fourth coming out in October, but I didn't want to spend a lot today.

Jesse and I are going to the Lagoon amusement park today for a work function. Well, really, it's not a function so much as they are paying for us to have a fun day there. I still have no idea what to get for Velvet's birthday, which is tomorrow...Hopefully something will come to me in the meantime.

I made a dress!

Well, technically Mary sewed the dress for me, but I showed her the pattern and paid for the material! The dress design I got from an online blog, Rostichery, called the "Infinity Dress" aka the "Convertible Dress."

The straps are 90" long, and let me tell you, they are interesting to work with! But, Jesse has a fun time with me, trying to figure out what all could be done with the dress. And I'm sure there are other ways to wear it as well...so if you, too, have an infinity dress and know other styles of wear, let me know!
Mary and I went to Hancock's fabrics and they were having a killer sale, so I picked up 10 dress designs for $.99/ea when they are usually $16.95/ea. Talk about savings! Not sure when I'll pick up the material for that, but Mary tells me next time I have to be behind the wheel of the sewing machine. Scary!

My weekend!

I do so love my weekends. But it's not because I don't like my job. I do. In fact, once training is over, I think I'm going to love it. However, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a good weekend where I'm not expected to be anyplace at a certain time, or do a specific thing.

I was looking through some dresses online yesterday, I think they are at modcloth.com and I was thinking, I could totally make those. Granted, some of them would take more work than others, but I really like dresses, and I really like the retro look some of them have. So, today my goal will be to get to a craft store and look through the sewing designs! Making my own clothes, how fun does that sound?! Of course, I've heard it's not necessarily a cheap hobby, and I don't have my own sewing machine, but Jesse's mom has one, as does Velvet, so I'm sure I could use their machines if I ask pretty please. Let's just see how long this hobby lasts, huh?

Instead of writing a long (or short for the matter) blog about the books I read, I'm just going to list them. That way, if I'm ever thinking about a book and can't remember what it's called or who wrote it, at least I'll have somewhere to start. Without further ado:

Magic Bites - Ilona Andrews
Magic Burns - Ilona Andrews
Magic Strikes - Ilona Andrews
Tall, Dark & Dead - Tate Hallaway
Dead Sexy - Tate Hallaway
Romancing the Dead - Tate Hallaway
Dead if I Do - Tate Hallaway
Tempting Danger - Eileen Wilks
Mortal Danger - Eileen Wilks
Blood Lines - Eileen Wilks
Storm Glass - Maria V. Snyder
Dead and Gone - Charlaine Harris
Curse the Dawn - Karen Chance
The Accidental Sorcerer - K.E. Mills

Those are all I can think of for the past month or so. I'll attempt to be better about listing them so I don't forget any. Wish me luck on my dress pattern shopping trip!

Things I learned at training yesterday

I wrote a couple of these down, but then of course left my notebook at work. But anyway, no one should fill out those "25 things about me" surveys any longer. They were originally created by a fraudster to steal the answers to your account security questions! You know, like, what was the name of your first pet, what's your mother's maiden name, what was the name of your high school, etc. Tricky, huh? I just thought I didn't like to fill them out because they're a waste of time, but in reality I've just been thwarting fraudulant people! Aw yeah!

Let's see...what else did I learn that's applicable... I can visualize where I wrote it in my notebook, at the top of the page because it was something I wanted to remember to tell mom...oh well. I can look it up today when I go in I guess.

Nuts! This is going to bother me.

Training has been going well. Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but instead of 6 weeks of training, it's going to be 3. Last week training was more about the eBay company and how they work and this week it's more about our specific department, which so far has been interesting and informative.

Velvet and Carl helped us move our new tank into the apartment; all 180 gallons of it. Our largest tank we've had in the past was 60 gallons, so yeah, this is quite a bit larger. It's probably going to cost a pretty penny getting everything set up. We need to buy the materials for the stand (which Jess is designing and will build), we probably need to buy more sand and rocks, we're definitely going to be getting more salt water fish once everything in the new tank in stable water-wise. It's going to be a procedure. I told Jesse we can never move. Just the tank by itself is HEAVY.

Even though I don't go to work until 3pm, the day still feels like it just flys by. I suppose that might have something to do with the fact that I rarely get up before 10am anymore.

A word about my book posts

So...I am extremely lazy. This whole time I haven't been working I've been reading books like crazy. And, one would think that with all this free time, it would be only a matter of moments for me to throw together a quick book review. At this time I would like to direct you back to the first sentence, last four words. LAZY! At this time, I'll probably discontinue my book reviews...or, I may start a new blog, and just link to it...more than likely I'll just stop doing the reviews. Ah, the curse of laziness.

Oh. My. Gosh!

ARGH! I always do that! I know I should always copy my blogs before I post in the event of an error, and this time I went straight to post and there was an error! Dangit! I lost everything! Although, typically there are auto-save funtions...I'm going to check it out.

Yay! Today I make money!

Sweet! Thank you auto-draft function!

Hello my little chickadees, it's that special time of year where I get to go to work! Yes, that's right, today is my first day at eBay! May I tell you how excited I am? And may I tell you how excitement usually turns into gut-wrenching anxiety attacks for me? Yeah, I'm trying to get all nervous ahead of time, so when it actually comes time to head out I'll be all nervoused out. I'll let you know how it goes.

Jess heard back and alas was not welcomed unto eBay. But, it's ok because we hear he's going to be transfered over in his position, so he'll be getting benefits like vacation time and whatnot instead of getting the nothing he currently gets as a contracted worker. So, there is the good news.

Apparently the company where I last worked (I'll not name names) sounds like it's headed downhill. They have laid off masses of people, and it wasn't a large company to begin with, including the president of the company. Or was it the CEO? I can't remember rank. Anyway, while I enjoyed working there, I am happy to begin to be a part of eBay; they seem pretty stable. I have six weeks of training, and then I'm out on the floor, just a happy customer service rep...theoretically after training I'll be a CSR for the fraud department, but I guess they can always change theirs minds in the meanwhile, so really I'm not sure which department I'll end up in. Keep those fingers crossed for the fraud department, though. It sounds like a good time to me.
